Incontinence & Bladder Issues

Move FROM leaking when you sneeze TO laughing as you run, bike, jump, and chase your kiddos

Ladies, it is time we stop normalizing the myths that women “have small bladders” and that leaking urine is “just what happens after you have a baby.”

Can you see yourself here?

You’ve always felt like you have to pee all the time, but now it feels like you have to go every 30 minutes…annoying!!

You’ve sometimes had little leaks when you have a cold, but now you're 7 months pregnant in TJ maxx and you’ve got an uncontrollable trickle coming down your leg after a tiny sneeze

You’re on a road trip with your girlfriends and feeling anxious about asking to stop every hour

You’re always reaching for the dark-colored leggings to wear to Crossfit because you know you’re going to leak if box jumps or double-unders are on the WOD

Or what about here:

You’re a year postpartum and STILL leaking urine when you run only 3 miles (and you used to crush half-marathon training, no problem!)

You have increasing anxiety on road trips, or even just after school pickup, because you can barely make it an hour without  having to pee SO bad

You’re limiting your water intake at work because you are worried you’re going to leak through your pants on the way to one of your very few bathroom breaks

BUT you find yourself:

Missing the WHOLE Reputation set at the Eras Tour (IYKYK) because your bladder couldn’t wait 45 minutes for relief

Stopping every 50 miles on your route (and peeing in some NASTY gas station bathrooms), even though you’ve been purposely dehydrating yourself

Skipping group training runs with your friends because you’re embarrassed you’ll either need to stop mid-long run or leak through your Lulu leggings

Always reaching for the dark-colored leggings if you see that double unders or box jumps are on the WOD at the gym

You WANT to:

  • Skip the hours-long bathroom line at the Eras Tour so you can catch ALL your favorite Taylor Swift songs

  • Make record time on your family road trip to the beach so you can get there and relax already

  • Sign up for a half marathon and know you can crush it

  • Get back to your Crossfit community postpartum and start to rebuild your strength

And you’re starting to wonder…

Wait, is this normal?

It totally makes sense that you’ve brushed off things like this in the past.

You’ve likely been told (or assumed) things like bladder urgency, incontinence, and peeing when you jump are all parts of being a woman - ESPECIALLY if you’ve ever been pregnant.

This has been reinforced by the fact that your friends laugh off their leaking issues-  “welcome to postpartum, ha ha!” -

and your doctor even told you that it’s normal to pee very frequently if you are drinking enough water, or that leaking is something that will” get better with time” and if not, “there are meds and surgery for that,” right?

Hell, even from a young age, your mother probably encouraged you to go “just in case” EVERY time you left the house.

I know all this is adding unnecessary anxiety to your daily life, and let’s be honest - killing your vibe!

The bad news is:

these bladder issues (and the anxiety you are having around them) are NOT normal

But guess what? Leaking, frequent bathroom trips, and anxiety around where the next bathroom is don’t have to be your norm.

They are totally fixable

and I can help!

Yep, pesky bladder issues do not have to kill your vibe.

Hey! I’m Jackie Roelofs

a pelvic floor physical therapist and preconception through postpartum coach based in New Orleans. I firmly believe that frequent bathroom trips and peeing your pants should not be accepted as “normal” - even if you’ve had babies!

Whether you’re dashing to the bathroom a little too often, leaking when you sneeze at 7 months pregnant, or postpartum and trying to get back to the gym without feeling confused whether that’s sweat or pee on your shorts,

I got you!

  • Jackie is phenomenal! Every woman should work with her.!

  • Dr. Jackie listens to your Story and creates a personal plan to meet your personal needs.

    Alicia D.

  • Dr. Jackie makes you feel extremely comfortable talking about anything

    Allison B.

  • As a Crossfit athlete, I was struggling with leakage during exercise in my second trimester of pregnancy. I worked with Jackie and learned the impacts of the pelvic floor on so many aspects of my daily life. During and after my pregnancy, I can feel and work my pelvic floor more effectively. We also worked on preparing for birth, which made me feel confident in my body!

My programs are perfect for you if:

  • You are a first time mom who wants to take care of some minor leaking issues BEFORE they become a big problem down the road

  • You’re a Crossfit athlete who wants to conquer your workouts - double unders and box jumps included - with confidence (and in your favorite pair of bright colored leggings)

  • You’re a C-section mama who never had leaking issues, but you’re noticing you have to pee ALL the time

  • You are 5 years postpartum and STILL struggling with incontinence, even though your doctor told you it would get better with time (yep, it’s NEVER too late to work on these issues!)

  • You dash to the bathroom when you get home from work, and sometimes just turning the key to the door causes you to leak before you make it

  • You are ALWAYS anxious about where the bathrooms will be if you go to an event (or just to the grocery store)

With my trauma-informed, full-body approach to the pelvic floor and women’s health, you can move FROM leaking when you sneeze TO laughing as you run, bike, jump, and chase your kiddos, symptom- AND worry-free.

Step 1:

This initial session will allow us to dive deeper into your pelvic floor issues, identify what is at the root of your problem, assess any barriers to recovery, and identify the most efficient and effective pathway to getting you symptom-free, worry-free, and doing ALL the things that bring you joy with confidence in your body.

*If you are local to New Orleans and prefer in-person care, choose PT Evaluation*
